Labyrinth is a mod of Celeste Classic, released in 2024 for 12 Days of CChristmas by ahumanhuman and Pandan.
Gameplay
Labyrinth consists of Tokens, Doors, Npcs, a Checkpoint, a pair of socks, a Bump Jump Mania reference, and an open(ish?) world map.
Tokens
Tokens are a collectable which allows you to open doors. Enabling "Freedom Mode" in the pause menu will set your tokens to 999.
Doors
Doors are an object that is open-able when the player is nearby and has enough tokens. The amount of tokens needed to open a door is specified in the level metadata of the level the door is in.
Npcs
Npcs are a single object that has different dialogue depending on the sprite of the tile. The game features two npcs, Adelie and Granny. You meet Granny first who tells you the following:
"Pause buffering
inputs may help
you in this level"
this is a somewhat silly message, as pause buffering inputs isn't possible in pico-8, but pausing can help to press the jump button twice in three frames, which is helpful in this level.
